    Started with 9 riders, finished with 10! Nick seemed to teleport himself to Cannington arriving just in time for tea and buns. Hoorah!

    However, he missed the casual 28mph ride to the town of the webbed feet via Lympsham, Berrow, B-O-S and Pawlett. Made good time to Cannington despite a couple of unscheduled stops for Dave to sort out his mud flaps and Ivan to uncork the flat champagne.

    Our good senses told us to cut the ride 5 miles short and go directly to the cafe. So we ignored this and promtly got soaked. Enjoyed the 30-35mph rant along the A39 though!

    Cafe was very accomodating and there were enough small children around to blame for the puddles on the floor. Rate the cake gets an 8/10 - tea cake okay but no jam and wedge of sponge cake quite tasty.

    Hope Andy appreciated all the extra training we gave him on the front of the bunch on the return leg. Long John Burns the baker did a couple of good turns too, as did Nick and Neil. Dropped off the back on the A370 - can't stand the windy conditions and too late in the day for me to be arsed to do anything about it. Mrs W very impressed with the time I got in (brownie point secured for another long ride!).

    Looking forward to stats from King of the Garmin, Mr GPS himself!

    Great report as ever Mr W.
    Just finished my report:-
    10 riders turned up for a morning that threatened rain. With a stiff westerly wind we decided to head west to Cannnington.
    With some strong riders present eg Paul, Ivan, Neil the pace was very fast and when we got out of Highbridge it got faster again and I don't think we dropped below 20mph all the way to Bridgewater and nearly touching 30mph on the dual carridgeway. Afer dropping down off the side of the Quantocks we hit the A39 and the speed went up yet again!
    We met Nick at Cannington where the janitor had to break out his mop and dry up the mess from some very wet riders.
    The ride back was just as fast. When we got to Woolavington Ivan went for a break away joined by a few of us who struggled to keep up.
    I think we lost Rich on the Bridgewater road somewhere. Ivan did say club rule 13 should have been invoked - "...the group should ride at the pace of the slowest rider..." but that seem to go out the window :-).

    Toasted teacake rating - 9/10
    Knacker factor - 9/10 (no big hills but the pace was relentless)
    OJC = 2

    club rule soixante neuf??

    could someone please think of another 68 rules as rule 69 should then read...

    'riders should take up a tight formation in a vigorous fashion, ensuring the release of copious quantities of bodily fluid, taking it in turns to bump and grind their machines until one comes out on top with an ecstatic roar.'

    following the application of rule 69, rule 69a should require a post rant fag break.
