6 riders turned up for our Wednesday outing this week with the intention of about 50 miles via Kenn, Naish Hill, Dundry and a tea stop at Chew Magna Lake Visitor Centre. We got off to a late start waiting for Sam who was delayed with a puncture en route to Priory. Do you need some new tyres Sam? We eventually left at around 9.25 but I think Sam was already chasing us up the A370! Naish Hill was much steeper than on my map so we won’t go up there again. At Flax Bourton my Garmin route suggested a different way than Bernie and Carlos wanted to go, so they remained on the main road towards Barrow Gurney … and although we expected to meet up at the lake tea room we never saw them again. After a short gasp up West Dundry Hill we had a nice drop down towards Chew magna where once more the Garmin suggested an unusual route. This time it appeared to be a no through road but after a detour towards Bishop Sutton, Ivan did an excellent job of leading us to the tea stop, and by virtue of superior speed, our miniature peloton passed a group of riders with about 300 metres to go, considerably shortening the queue at the café counter. A nice run home with the wind on our backs via Nempnett Thrubwell (Try saying that after a few beers) and Wrington. Despite a few strange turnings on 3 ply lanes I think everyone enjoyed it. Who’s picking the route next week?

Re: Wednesday Group ride
Sorry Pete. Only just saw your post. There is always a Wednesday ride. Numbers vary from 1 to sometimes 8 or more and we meet at Priory at 9.00., but that may change when we loose BST. Best to get a few 'phone numbers and contact people that way.
Today's ride saw 6 of us heading out via Puxton, Winscombe, Cheddar gorge, Priddy, Wells, Chewton Mendip, Bishop Sutton. Bernie decided we all needed a few hills and 39 miles before he allowed us any respite and a much needed TTC at Chew Valley lake. Then a short run home via Wrington. A lovely ride with clear crisp weather and free of any incidents or punctures. Oh, just one incident! Sam lost a spoke but that happens every ride so we don't count that.
Jam factor **** If I had reported last week's ride Sweets would have had *****. A full jar between 2 of us . Probably a once in a life time experience.
