forecast good and all is fair...

we headed north last week and south the week before, so this week we'll go to the land of eastern promise, aka bruton.

we'll go direct (via shitn'/evercreech) and return through shitn'/wells to avoid nasty lanes so mileage will be closer to 70 than 80. however, usual triathlete option (rocky mountain) will be available for the runners.

i guess we need to go west next week to complete the fourth episode in our festive trilogy.

Once again the faithful 15 congregated on another dry Saturday.

The ambitious destination of bruton led to an inevitable exodus. Not just the triathletes, but the tri-curious peeled off to the far more sensible destin of Glastonbury. Little did the foolhardy four realise that they would also be darkening the heaphey's doors about 2 hours later following a foodless visit to the chapel. Little did the four realise that the chapel's communion finishes at 11 with only post service coffee reluctantly availed to any late comers.

So, with a flea in their ear, the repentent, but incresingly unsustained foolhardy four limped home. Their reluctant legs were most grateful when merion decided to head for Sparkford on the way home.  This necessitated a few frantic phone calls and some welcome additional miles as we hunted for him around castle cary.

A 2 o'clock visit to heaphey's became a 4 o'clock return to weston following an 80 mile epic that my legs are trying to forget.

Anyone for dunster next week? I know a lovely cafe. I'm told it serves food!

Another outstanding Christmas! Had to do a 6 hour round trip to collect step daughter on Christmas Eve as there was some 'disruption to rail services' which roughly translates as we can't be f*****g arsed to put on any trains today. Then came down with a stinking cold from Christmas Day until today. As I was feeling better me and the missus had a short ride out to Worle where we invented the new Olympic sport of syncronised bike sliding. This involved going round a corner onto a patch of ice and then seeing who can slide the furthest along the road. Mrs W limped home sporting a bloody knee and bruised elbow and I have a bruised hip. Sooo glad I didn't go to Bruton - that would have topped my week off beautifully.

When we split from the 'A' team at Wells the 'B' team or is it the tri-curious continued onto Heapheys at a slightly steadier pace. I'm not sure the new tables and chairs are an improvement as only 3 people can sit at one table but there is more room.
We were soon joined by the 'C' team of Pete, Ian, Steve, Tracey and Paul who joined us on the return trip home via Westhay, Shapwick, Woolavington and Mark.
