    Another beautiful Saturday with everyone wearing short sleeves. Twelve of us set off for Frome via Puxton, Burrington (where some turned back) then the Mendip Motorway towards Frome. We stopped at the usual cafe which is vegaterian. Neil wanted to ask them to go and buy some bacon and cook it for his breakfast!
    The ride back was a little different as we went via Shepton Mallet. Just outside there 'Paul Burns the bread' managed to break his cassette which reduced it to a 9 speed bike. Unfortunately the pace from Wells to Wedmore was a bit fast and we managed to lose Miche and Merion. We waited in Wedmore for 15mins but they must have taken a different route.
    Overall a great ride in the sun.

    Toasted tea cake rating - 2/10 good tea cake but the coffee i ordered did't turn up.
    OJC = 4
    Knacker factor - 6/10

    I fell back (as I did all day) then spent 5 minutes trying to get a bee's stinger out of my neck using the reflection in my glasses, caught up with Miche though and we found our way back Smile I must say it was a nice day though.

    Far too hot to go out yesterday. So I went out today instead! Jeepers what a scorcher. Would have loved to have joined Old 9 Sprockets et al yesterday but felt obliged to see my stepdaughter as it was her birthday!

    The Frome ride is one of my faves, alongside Bruton, Barrington Court and anywhere in the Quantocks. I would consider adding ‘Climb Regis’ to the list, but I’m not sure if pain & suffering are normal factors when qualifying as favourites.

    I'm sorry, but I would assess the group’s overall performance on Saturday (including myself) as relatively lacklustre. My supposition is that this was the effect of our excursion to the Jurassic Coast the previous week, as referred to above. Next week then I would expect for us to be upping our average. So, just to confirm, I failed to provide any provocative sprints for you guys to get excited about because I was f****d !

    So Martin, the 2nd coffee I found myself with at the Café Garden did in fact belong to you then? I guess I now owe you a coffee, but I can tell you that it was the worst one I have tasted since my Army initialisation of drinking a cup of piss . . . . . . . mmmm nice ! Opportunity missed: I’m sure I could have found a decent coffee in Wedmore, but the place was just dead !

    Hey, is this the Weston Wheelers site ?

    I'm glad you lot can find the time for idle chit chat. Some of us have to work. I'm off to Lyme with Angela today.

    None off us had 'stung by a bee' in the 'where's merion?' Sweepstake. So next weekend's rollover question is.... how many VNLs (visible nippl e lines) will jeannie be shoving in our faces in Berkeley? Pick any number between 1 & 100.
