16 riders assembled in the glory of a spring morning to give noel's bottom a visit.
at the start a keen pace of 16's was being set on the front by dave beaver, keen because those behind had to ride at 23's as they weaved over the road in an attempt to avoid his back wheel.
things really kicked off at high ham where a concerted effort by all was trumped by pete 'pheonix' telford as he rose majestically from the ashes of pedwell moor putting 400 yards into his nearest challenger. his smile was as broad as his frame at the top; not least because the expected WADA officer had been delayed on the M5 and was not in attendance.
breaking with tradition ivan tore off down the other side of high ham putting his weight advantage to full use. the ride then followed la route d'merry monk to the feed stop where phil hemmings bought everyone a cappuccino, panini and teacake; very nice too.
the journey home was dominated by kyra who was her usual perky self after 65 miles, but the golden olive this week goes to dave trowbridge who pissed the banwell castle sprint on 85 miles winning: best young rider, best rider with the name dave and best plumber.
next week we may head north!
