You know it's the truth, and (if I manage to get back) I'll owe it all to you.

    It's Lyme Regis time!!!

Current forecast looks pretty ideal save for a 10mph westerly in the afternoon. If the forecast changes keep an eye on the forum for a change of plan, but if there are no posts to this effect by 9pm Friday the ride is on.

So, an early start, we'll be leaving at around 8:02-23', if, in the unlikely event you should arrive late, you will need to know which way to go and catch up (no names..... but no arrows to follow this week,) so here's the route:

Puxton, Sandford, winscombe, cheddar, Wedmore, pedwell, high ham and if you haven't caught us by Langport you probably won't.

Those not riding all the way can either come with us as far as Langport or meet up at 8:45 for their own ride.

The question is - does the ride meet the new bike criteria?
Will it be a long ride? Check.
    Will it be dry? Check.
Will I ride it as well as Qunitana? Check.
Will it take the added weight of a burger and chips? Fail.
Okay, new bike is coming out again but no burger for me!

Saturday 23rd July 8AM START - we'll have the Lyme of our lives. Empty Ride Report

Post  showmethecakes Sun Jul 24, 2016 1:07 pm

First there was 10. Then there was 11. Then there were 12. Finally, there were 9. Lyme - the sequel.
Best film this weekend. Full of thrills, no spills, the excitement of the chase. It's long, it's hard and somewhere in the middle was a Big Load. You'll be on the rivet of your saddle as Lyme (the sequel) takes you for a ride by the seat of your pants.

Actually it's not a sequel, for those who have now done the trip three times it should be a treacle. Or if you have done it four times, this was the freakle.

One lazy sod couldn't get out of bed on time. Won't say who but at least the cock shaped piece of fruit caught up by High Ham. Not that it was too difficult as Ivan was conserving all his energy for the last 10 miles and for most of the ride down to Lyme he was more like a revolting French farmer blocking the road in protest. Where's Bernard Hinault when you need him?

All rather uneventful on the way out. Baron, Micha and Chris all bugged off at Crewkern while the nonchalant 9 continued south. Even Ivan's front tyre held out until we hit the seafront in Lyme when it gave a deep sigh as it exhaled it's final breath. Neil went in search of food while Ivan patched up his latex, no doubt a porn patch would have been appropriate but I thin a new rubber was used instead.

Despite taking the new bike I opted for the burger and chips and promptly added about 10 pounds to the overall ride weight for the return journey. Jeannie impressed with a seated effort up from the Cob which continued to Raymond's Hill. The group got a bit divided along the rolling roads back but frequent regrouping allowed us all to gather in Somerton for afternoon tea. Tony opted for the cheapest dish of the day - another plate full of fresh air while a few of us tucked into cream teas and ice cream.

Good efforts from Neil, Tony and Artur helped keep the pace up into a headwind for the last 10 miles or so. The final split came at the Webbington where we went our separate ways home.

Another cracking day out to the seaside.

Why has Neil got a feather stuck in his helmet?

Just looked at myself. Can you be absolutely sure those are all fingers?

Many thanks to you all for dragging me back home as I was this weeks Bauke Mollema.

Great to see Jeannie, Artu and Ivan standing to attention for the photo.

Standing to attention for the photo was the greatest effort I'd put in all day; (not that I could manage it twice a day anyway!)

I'm just praying that froome gets through the next few hours, otherwise I'm sure that EVERYONE will have drawn bardet in the sweepstake. (well done Alex!!!?) If you haven't coughed up yet, give your money directly to Alex when you see him, I've got £13 here, so we're a few pounds short.
