forecast is dry and temperature is in double figures; time to start stretching our legs.

this ride will take in a big up and a big down, namely dead woman's ditch and crowcombe and ride distance will be in the 80's.

tri-option can be pines or the walled garden cannington, which should have re-opened for easter.

NB: on monday there will be a 'drive and ride' day out to the cotswolds; a full day of fun a frollicks (and the usual bollicks!) let me know if you wish to partake and we'll tie up arrangements once we've got numbers.

this will be the first of many bank holiday monday drive and rides, future destinations to include south wales and dartmoor, watch this space.

Fingers crossed for a dry ride Saturday. Looking forward to some cream teas and afternoon sandwiches at Doniford.

I'm up for a ride on Monday and can drive if needed.

Boohoo. Short ride for me tomorrow - orders from the boss as we are going out in the evening and she doesn't want me falling asleep in my soup. If I fancy a little extra I might do Dead Woman's Ditch and Crowcombe and then loop back round to Pines via Cothelstone or something. I will see how the legs feel! (hairy?).

thats a great vid Martin, big balls indeed......but theres someone out there with even bigger ones! its hard to believe.Shocked

Luckily you came across that tanker at one of the wider spots. When i saw it turning to go up the hill, I was hoping no one would come a cropper....especially knowing what some of you loons would be like coming down a hill like that Laughing

i was starting to think i'd missed a turn, hence why i was riding back up....theres only so many loops you can do in a car park before getting dizzy No

    Ride report

Post  Martin on Sun Apr 05, 2015 8:32 pm

A mild and dry morning welcomed 25 riders. We set off for the destination of Doniford via the Toll road where Chris bagged the 2nd overall on Strava.
A nice tail wind assisted us on our way south to Bridgwater. After negotiating the cellephane capital of the south west we slowly climbed up to Spaxton where we parted with about half of the riders. We continued on but shortly afterwards Neil managed to crash. It involved not enough hands and to many jelly babies.
After we enjoyed the climb up Dead Womans Ditch we dodged the sheep over the top and flew down Crowcombe. The ride along the A368 was the usual high speed train - blink and you will miss it!
At Doniford Farm we enjoyed the over priced food with some of people opting for the full afternoon tea option of triangular sandwiches, tea, sponge cake and a scone. Sutible refulled we climbed back up the hill to the A39 and dashed back to Canniford. The route back up the A38 wasn't too bad considering we had a headwind.
No mechanical problems or punctures this week - yeh.
The Club shirts are due in 2 weeks.

    Video highlights:-

    00:02 - Neil crashes
    00:10 - Crowcombe decent
    01:08 - Dash to Doniford
    01:58 - A39 return to Cannington
    03:10 - Ivan finds a gap
    03:18 - Bleadon dash
05:06 - Dodging the doggie on the seafront
05:38 - Welcome back to Weston - drunken stag party.
