A sunny but (westerly) windy day forecast so we'll head down to the Quantocks and see how far we get.

We'll go through Spaxton, giving us the option of a direct (tri) route or a Crowcombe/Cothelstone loop.

Either way, we can 'ignite the burners' on the way back with a favourable wind.

It'll be nice to spend a our pre-christmas ride with the happy folks of pines.

Ride out will be the classic toll road, anchor, brent knoll bogs, woolavington route, should you wish to latch on.

Don't forget: Nick is promoting a new monday group, their inaugural ride leaves priory at 9am on 22/12 - long may they last (can't be any worse than the saturday group.)

Saturday 20th December - Pines Empty Ride report

Yet another good forecast for the 10 riders that showed up at Priory school for this years penultimate ride. We set off south via the toll road, seafront, Lympsham and Woolavington. As we left Bridgwater Robie suffered the first mechanical - a broken spoke. Unfortunately it was so bad he had to call for a lift back home. We continued on up Enmore where Chris took the KOM. Its always nice to see the young ladies at the Pines its just a shame the host didn't have time to great us in his usual cheerie fashion :-). Instead of taking the returning via Enmore Ivan treated us to some really muddy lanes and if that wasn't enough the hedges had just been cut so we tip toed down and got to the bottom with no offs or puctures. But half a mile later Steve didn't disappoint us as he got a puncture. The rest of the route home was via the usual A38 but this time instead of being treated to a tail wind we battled a side wind but luckily the pace wasnt too high and everyone stayed together. When we reached the railway line at Lympsham some brave individual went off the front but with a combined effort he was chased down and Ivan took the honors. Then along the seafront Chris made another breakaway and this time it stuck.
