More funshine sunshine, if a little chillier this week; so get out yer thermals. North Curry cafe with a Langport Tri-Stop.

Latchers can meet us en route as we set off through Wolvershill, Banwell, Winscombe, Cheddar and Wedmore. From there we'll head to Langport via Shenanegan Alley and High Ham; then another 10 miles to North Curry on the main road through Curry Rivel.

Mileage should be 75, but you've heard that before (you've heard that before!)

LAST ORDERS FOR CHRISTMAS MEAL TODAY PLEASE. I'm off to North Curry, so please see me at Priory before we depart if you're stopping at Langport.

With a destination of Langport/North Curry 15 riders headed out on the first properly cold morning. We took the direct route via Banwell, Cheddar, Wedmore and Westhay. Nobody noticed Ivan and Nick slip off the front and gain a substancial lead by the time they got to Pedwell. Nick did the gentlemanly thing and stopped and waited for us. Ivan kept going in a bid for glory and he duly took the honors of first up High Ham - who would have thought it. His pie, chips and Thatchers diet is paying off. He was followed by Nick who just managed to overtake Chris at the top. The moral of the story is that High Ham now begins at Westhay!!!!!!!! After a rant down into Langport we dropped a few riders off and continued on to North Curry. Unfortunately just befor a right hand turning off the A378 Steve had a small accident and narrowly avoided taking out a couple of other riders. He was kind enough to take a dive on his own but luckily his fall was cushined by a gel packet in his back pocket. No real damage done and we continued on only to encounter our second puncture of the day just a mile short of the cafe. Ivan bravely volunteered to go on to the cafe to tell them we would be delayed. Mean while Neil and Steve (not a great day for him) repaired their puctures. At the cafe the women provided their usual rapid responses and served some nice cakes and food. The return journey was via a slightly different route to Burrow Bridge via the A361. In keeping with the days events there was another pucture so I think that was at least 4 for the day. There were the usual mad sprints at places like Bason Bridge and Bleadon. As we were waiting by the Anchor pub at Bleadon we greated a rider coming the opposite way and turning left at the pub. Unfortunately he was carrying too much speed as he turned right and hit the ground quite hard. Fortunately he was hurt except for his pride. A pretty good day despite the puctures and crashes.
