Twenty brave souls appeared to take on the predicted storms. Glastonbury was the choosen destination via the back route of - Mark, Polden hills and Butleigh. Some riders choose the slightly shorter route via Ashcott and Street.
Heaphys has had a 'make over' with a new counter and signs! Luckily the bread and food is still as good. Some of us choose to sit outside and enjoy the brief appearances of the warm sun. There seems to be a reoccuring subject of conversaton recently - 80s music. I think we can say Ivan is the undisputed king on this!
The pros departed once we released their bikes and then the remaining seven of us eventually left the cafe and made our way back via Goodney which for a change was not flooded. We finally encounted the forcasted heavy showers but keep going despite the stinging hail. We got to Mudgley via one of Ivans favorite climbs - Dagg's Lane and then Blackford, Lower Weare, Loxton and Banwell. At the top of the hill at the Bone Caves Nick punctured with massive split down the centre but that wasn't the cause of the flat which was a small stone. Some of us recommened he replace his tyres with Gatorskins as 'then never pucture'!
Some strong rides from Adrian, Nick (as usual) and Paul (from South Africa). Why is it that all the people in our group called Paul are so good?
