well, it's been a while since we've been pleasured with the famous olympic breakfast. by contrast to last week the husband/visa seeking staff may need fending off but we'll get nick to do the dirty work for us (bet he doesn't now share this week's post with jo' Question )

bbc forecast is ok 'til 3pm, we could have set our watches by their forecast last week so i dare say it'll piss down all morning.

shall we risk going via langport and piss a'huishcopi? depending on bravery/foolhardiness triathletes and the tri-curious can stop off at truckers/langport or glastonbury.

i do like the new avatar's, i'm bloody sure that merion's must be computer generated, what human would choose that colourway for a kit? neil's is class all the way..... the bar has been raised pretty high, methinks.

saturday 25h january - podimore Empty Ride report

Post  Martin Sat Jan 25, 2014 6:56 pm

Eighteen runners and riders appeared for a dry and mild day. We had a choice of three destinations - Truckers, Langport or Podimore. As we made our way along the sea front Dave had a minor mechanical followed by Ivan who broke a spoke and had to head back to change his wheel. We continued on via Mark acroos the Levels to Shapwick. At Truckers we split into three groups with some enjoying the delights of Truckers cuisine and the 'A' team waiting for Ivan to then continue on to Podimore which left 7 of us to head off to Langport where we stopped at the Potting Shed. They had noticies up to say they will be moving location just down the road to the garden centre in March. I enjoyed a very nice triple ginger cake. We tried to get Andy to give us a Tarot card reading but maybe next time.
Richard did some good work into the wind on the front on the return leg.

Here is the report from the so called ‘A’ team:

The wait at Truckers for Ivan and Neil was just over 30 minutes. Now, this in itself is not a problem as you can never wait too long for good friends. . . . . . (read into that what you will), but by then we were feeling a bit chilly. The appeal of riding on to Langport was actually quite attractive as it would have generated much needed heat, but the prospect of a wholly inadequate breakfast of the ‘non-fried’ sort was, well, not appealing at all. Regretfully therefore it is with great shame that I have to inform you that we did in fact enter the Albion (aka Truckers) with the intention of being lazy and being fat.

Aha . . . . . there was no room at the inn . . . It appears then, that justice is also served on a cold dish.

We then made a decision to head straight to Glastonbury via Street and good old Heapheys. I can tell you that the journey there was not slow. As though trying to make amends for the great ‘Truckers sloth debacle’ we cranked it up to ramming speed. The rant into Glastonbury was most stimulating, apart from the fact that we had lost Meirion on the way. Nevertheless, the paninis were up to their usual good standard, apart from being slightly baconless.

The return leg through the Godney ‘log flume’ was . . . slightly wet. Did you know that the short sharp climb up to Mudgley is called Daggs Lane and the connection to Mudgley Hill is called Cold Nose? – I like that!

So, on past the windmill, through Lower Weare, Webbington, Barton Lane up to Banwell Castle and back to Mr Burns’ house for tea and medals. Back in Churchill I had 65 miles in my legs and I could feel it. Marvellous!

Forgive us father for we have sinned: We are renowned for our enthusiastic approach to the Saturday morning club run, our ability to endure great hardships, our relentless quest to dig deep and push the envelope and our compassion to our fellow riders who trust us to stick together.

    I guess we f.****d up!

I think Cav comes to the same conclusion at the end of a sprint he has just lost: "I guess we just f****d up."

Now I understand the problems he faces during a ride - stick together or split up, Heaphy's or Truckers, bacon or no bacon? The list goes on. No wonder he gets paid so much - so many decisions to make.

Did anyone find Meirion again or is he still submerged on the levels?
