Good turn out of about 18 probably due to a reasonable forecast. Plan was to go to Langport with the option of an extra 10 or so miles for those that fancied a bit extra so to speak.
However things do not always go according to plan and there was a drastic re-evaluation after a nasty accident involving no less than FIVE riders just off Mark Causeway.
Sorry to say that the rider who appeared to come off worst was Gordon who was taken to hospital by ambulance. No doubt updates on his condition will be posted as when we know how he is.
Other casualties were Marcella, Bernie, Ian and Paul S who had a nasty cut to his forearm but, in the manner befitting a world champion, received treatment from the race doctor and continued in honour of the rainbow jersey! Marcella and Bernie seemed to fancy a tumble in the long grass until they realised it led to the rhyne. Not sure how Bernie is going to explain to Mrs Bernie how he got wet feet after a roll in the grass with a female friend.
Stopped at Sweets to gather our senses then set off to Wookey, up Ebbor Gorge, Priddy and Charterhouse where we almost lost another rider. New to the group, he came a cropper on a sweeping left hander and was last seen summersaulting over his handlebars into the grass. Glad to say he was fine and completed the ride down Burrington and back to Weston.
All in all 65ish miles at an average of 17 mph 'ish'. If anyone else has any better stats feel free to post them!
