yes, it's back to the home of momma's homestyle breakfasts again.

the kind folks of barton town have invited us back despite the best attempts of many last year.

the route will need to be pretty basic as we've been asked to arrive by 10:30 to avoid burnt bacon; not only that, the bbc are forecasting a rainy saturday... now there's a rarity. maybe we''ll go down cheddar gorge (what can possibly go wrong?)

we will be taking a collection with a suggested donation of £5, if anyone has any wooden plates it would be appreciated. all monies raised will go to the running of barton camp, a charity that provides holidays for the underprivileged, (if it wasn't for charities like this paul burns' family would never get a break - he needs to out on his bike more often!!!)

It is with great sadness and deepest regret that I must miss the bike ride to Barton. Enjoy the breakfast of bacon, bangers and beans with wooden benches to fart on.
Have a prior engagement in Reading! See you next time.

    Ride report

Post  Martin on Sun Nov 10, 2013 10:19 am

7 riders were brave enough to show up despite the downpour - Mars, Kiera, Pete, Ade, Neil, Chris, Carlos and myself but no Bernie :-)
We set off for the Toll road or as Mars calls it Bob's road then Lympsham, up the A38 to Cross and around the back of the Webbington where just before Barton Camp Carlos's chain came off. We all slowed and then headed up the lane to the camp where Kiera 'took some responsibility' (apparently its the husbands job to replace her brake pads) and went back to look for him. After 5 mins inside Kiera retuned but there was still no Carlos!
We all enjoyed the excellent breakfast and managed to leave some for the runners who turned up later. Mars collected £5 from everyone.
Most of us took the direct route home but, Ade, Chris and Neil took in a few extra miles via Cheddar Gorge.
