Usual suspects out today, Ivan, myself, Ian, Nick "late" Williams, Bernie, Keith, the Salter's Meirion Steve "puncture" Baxter I think that's everyone.

Steve unfortunately had three punctures and decided to go limping home after the third from Brent Knoll area.
We had a head wind as wee went down the main road towards Bridgewater, nothing we couldn't handle though. Most riders went to Cannington cafe except for myself, Nick Meirion and that big bloke, can't remember his name now.

We had the special treat of climbing up through the woods to Dead Women's Ditch which we renamed Dead cyclist ditch once we got to the top due to the way we all felt. The highlight though for me is the near death experience you get from descending Crowcombe Hill, this is the only decent that terrifies me every time I go down it.

Once at the bottom we made our way down to Williton, myself and Ivan worked quite hard down this undulating decent to keep Nick who was chasing away, great decent, lots of fun.

We all stopped at the cafe in Doniford for an hour then made our way home at rocket pace as we had the wind with us. We bumped into Pete and Paul on the A39 who we talked into joining us for the ride home however Pete had some trouble with his gears in Bridgewater so Paul and Pete came home on their own (I think this may have been a secrecy code from Pete meaning piss off and let me ride home at a sensible pace).

It might be worth mentioning Ivan's comment when we came across a very flat road kill fox on the A39 that had probably been there a couple of weeks, he said it was a shame Paul Snellin wasn't here to save the fox but when we met up with Paul later we were all relieved to hear that he didn't think he could bring it back to life, "call yourself a vet"

Nice report. Like the picture - didn't think you ever got tired and had to sleep like the rest of us. Sorry couldn't be out to join you - bad cold kept me off the bike this week.

When is Steve's birthday? Perhaps we can have a whip round and buy him a pair of new inner tubes! Either that I I don't mind donating one with just 6 holes and patches - it's bound to be an improvement on what he's got.

I agree with you on Crowcombe descent. Scares the crap out of me. And as for that fox - I'm sure a porn patch and 140 psi would have fixed it.
