saturday's ride will take in the delights of wurzel country as we ride through chew stoke, bishop's sutton, stowey, hinton blewitt, litton, chewton mendip and binegar (passing swallow pits copse) before alighting for eggs benedict at hartley's (the irony!)

grass chewing and baler twine belts are optional.

those who can cope with more wurzeldom are invited to ride back via fenney castle, mudgeley and clewer; though i fully appreciate it if folks will have had their fill of ooo-arrr place names and choose to go home via pudding pie lane instead.

When are the wives going to be allowed to come along to Hartleys for Eggs Florendict? Have been feeding Martin my unwanted cocktails so he may be a trifle worse for wear tomorrow Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

    Point of order.

Ladies and others of the female persuasion have never been turned away. We have no sexual entry conditions; indeed, plenty of poofs regularly participate vigorously.

Our cycling group welcomes all CYCLISTS. Bring your bike and we'll see you in the morning.

18 riders for a dry mild morning. It was nice to see some of the older riders out again - Bernie, Keith, etc.
We followed Ivans route via Bristol Airport to Hartleys where we were met by the convivial host.
After an extended break most riders decided to go back via the direct route. The remaining six of us dropped down to Wells at quite a pace. As we made our way through the centre I manged to hit a pot hole and lost control but just managed to save it.
When we got out of Wells the pace picked up with Mr Burns leading us across the levels into the wind at a fair lick. When he flicked his elbow for me to come through I thought he was joking as I could barely hang on to his wheel.
When we got back to Weston Paul kindly provided refreshments back at his house.

I thought Burns the baker was giving it a rest while he went on a cruise. Glad to see he is still putting you through the mill. I recall a similar moment across Kenn Moor when Mr Burns suggested we crack on from Clevedon to Yatton with the famous last words of go on the front when you want. At 27mph my heart was leaping from my chest and my legs were about to explode. How the hell was I ever going to 'go on the front'!

Now that Mrs Martin has found your secret forum you will have to stop writing all that nasty stuff about her. What was it you said last week - she never lets you go out on your bike and even when she does you're only allowed to take enough cash for a tea cake. Have you told her about that new bike you bought that you keep in Ivan's garage?

Need to re-think packing the car before going on holiday. Mrs W's suitcase will have to go on the bike rack and my bike will have to go in the boot next time. Too much mini road kill all over it has added a good few hundred grams. (almost typed in grans which would have been quite funny thinking about it - just had an image of lots of old people plastered to the side of my bike.

Currently enjoying 30 degrees of sunshine and sea!
