16 riders volunteered for some physical punishment on another glorious day. We set off for Bruton via Puxton, Burrington and the Mendip Motorway where someone thought it would be a good idea to do 25 - 30mph!
At the dip near Torhole Bottom Nick had a mechanical problem with his freehub which sounded like a bag of spaners. The fix seemed to be to cycle downhills with his brakes on.
Our northen guest from Peterbourgh had to turn back near Wells but he did'nt seem to phased by the quick pace.
Adrian stopped at Hartleys for a checky free water bottle top up. We dropped off seven of the regulars at Rocky Mountain while the rest continued on to Bruton.
We had the regular run in with the angry motorist when we came to a cross road and a couple of riders zipped around the waiting cars which seemed to annoy a guy in a black truck who started swearing which was'nt helped when the rest of us started to laugh at him!
On reaching Bruton one of the peleton asked which way we had to go and someone said - go up that one way street the wrong way at which point an old lady said 'I hope your not going to do that' and when we did she shouted to us 'you should be ashamed of yourselves'. Obviously Bruton does'nt see much crime!
We sat outside at the Chapel which was very nice. Service was a bit slow but very good with lots of iced water etc.
TTC - Excellent bread as usual and for the princely sum of £1.50
